"Kaanta laga" fame Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42; Cardiac arrest suspected
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about school safety and student behaviour, a private school in Ghoti, Igatpuri taluka of Nashik became the centre of attention after a surprise bag inspection revealed disturbing items such as knives, brass knuckles, condoms, narcotics, and chains in students’ bags. The discovery was made by the school principal, who conducted the check following growing behavioural concerns among the students.
According to reports, the items were found in the bags of Class 8 and 9 students. Teachers decided to inspect the bags after noticing unusual hairstyles, erratic conduct, and suspected intoxication among some students. What was meant to be a routine check turned into a full-blown concern for safety as teachers uncovered items not just dangerous, but illegal for minors to possess.
A video of the confiscated items, shared by X user Raj Maji, has since gone viral and ignited public outrage. The footage shows an alarming collection laid out on a table — brass knuckles, knives, bicycle chains, condom packets, playing cards, and even Pokémon cards. The presence of narcotic substances was also confirmed by local media outlet Lokmat Times, which reported that some students may have even consumed them on school premises.
Following the discovery, the matter was immediately reported to the police, and an investigation is currently underway. Teachers have reportedly told police that they suspect several students were under the influence of drugs during school hours, something that could have had serious safety implications for both staff and fellow students.
Parents, meanwhile, are left shocked and concerned. Many have questioned how such items went unnoticed for so long and how students gained access to narcotics and weapons. The school management has promised stricter monitoring and psychological counselling for affected students. Local child protection authorities have also been informed.
This incident comes amid rising concerns across India about rising delinquency and drug exposure among teenagers. Education experts are calling for a combined effort involving schools, parents, law enforcement, and mental health professionals to curb such trends before they spiral further.
